Nutrient Composition of Alpaca Milk: Changes Over Three Months.

An Original Research Proposal by: Elise Chad

Objective: to determine changes in the nutrient composition of alpaca milk over a three month period.

Purpose: determining the nutrient composition of alpaca milk and how it changes over time will potentially help in two areas: 1) a better understanding of the natural composition of alpaca milk in order to make better milk replacers and 2) a better understanding of the nutrient composition of milk which is necessary to calculate the nutrient requirements of lactating dams.
